FOLK HORROR EMERGES FROM THE DARKNESS ONCE MORE THIS MARCH AND APRIL – PLUS A CHANCE TO WIN ONE OF TWO TICKETS FOR STRANGE AS FOLK!
Folk horror fans will be able to enjoy an exciting double-header of events over the next month, with the second runs of both the DARKNESS IN THE FIELDS FILM FESTIVAL and STRANGE AS FOLK.
The Darkness in the Fields Film Festival runs at Derby’s popular QUAD venue on the 22nd March, and will be serving up five new folk horror movies along with a range of exciting shorts on the day. The event will take in two British movies – THE SEVERED SUN and the insightful documentary THE LAST SACRIFICE – alongside the Dutch feature WITTE WIEVEN, the Brazilian film A MOTHER’S EMBRACE and the Serbian feature MUDBRICK.
With a truly international line-up of movies that you will be able to see before they achieve wider visibility, this is bound to be an exciting day out for lovers of the subgenre! Passes for the full event are just £30, or individual film tickets are also available from https://www.derbyquad.co.uk/events/ditf2025/
Strange as Folk runs in collaboration with Writing Magazine, and will be bringing together an exciting array of authors for a day of workshops and interviews, ideal for any aspiring writers in the field! And with a line-up featuring Melanie Golding (The Sight, The Hidden), Kerry Hadley-Pryce (Lie of the Land, Gamble), Adam S Leslie (Lost in the Garden) and Eden Royce (Who Lost, I Found), there’s bound to be plenty of information and inspiration alike on the day! Strange as Folk runs online on the 12th April, so you’ll be able to join us from anywhere in the world, and the full event will be recorded if there’s anything you do miss on the day.
And we’ve teamed up with Alex Davis Events and Writing Magazine to give away two tickets for STRANGE AS FOLK – for your chance to win, simply answer the following question…
