Steve Ross Unleashes New Horror Vision with Carnevil Freakshow in Development

Filmmaker Steve Ross is diving deep into the twisted world of horror with his latest project, Carnevil, currently in active development. Promising to blend the surreal terror of classic funhouse nightmares with a modern psychological twist, Carnevil is shaping up to be one of the most buzzworthy horror films on the indie circuit.

Ross, known for his bold storytelling and atmospheric visuals, describes Carnevil as “a descent into madness under the guise of a traveling carnival,” where nothing is as it seems and every ride may be your last. The film follows a group of strangers who stumble upon an abandoned carnival on the outskirts of a forgotten town — only to discover that the games are deadly, the performers are cursed, and the only way out is to face their deepest fears.

Sources close to the production reveal that Carnevil will combine practical effects with stylized, dreamlike sequences to evoke the eerie nostalgia of old carnivals while delivering fresh, spine-tingling scares. Ross has reportedly assembled a dynamic team of horror veterans and rising stars to bring his nightmarish vision to life, with casting announcements expected soon.

In keeping with Ross’s signature approach, Carnevil is expected to explore deeper psychological themes beneath its blood-and-gore surface — examining guilt, lost innocence, and the seductive power of fear itself.

The production team for CarnEvil Freakshow features a lineup of seasoned professionals:

    • Director & Cinematographer: Cory Geryak, known for his work on major film sets, brings his visual storytelling expertise to the project.I

    • Producers: Jeff Caperton and Mark-Anthony Baca, with Baca also overseeing special effects, contribute their extensive experience in film production.

    • Producer / Publicist: Jimmy Star, a recognized figure in the entertainment industry, manages publicity and production aspects.

Together, this team aims to deliver a horror film that intertwines chilling narratives with profound themes of justice and redemption.

CarnEvil Freakshow is the inaugural installment of a planned trilogy, setting the stage for a series that delves into the darker facets of human experience through the lens of horror. The film’s development is a testament to Ross’s commitment to crafting stories that resonate on both emotional and psychological levels.
