Screams By The Sea 2025: Unveiling Horror’s Best

After a successful debut, Screams By The Sea, Dorset’s premier independent horror and genre film festival, returns to Pavilion Dance South West (PDSW) on March 29th, 2025. This year, we’re thrilled to unveil a thrilling lineup of films, including five feature films, a handpicked short film selection, and exciting new ticket options.

For the first time ever, Screams By The Sea is offering single tickets for each screening, priced at just £7 per film, alongside the usual full-day passes. Whether you’re looking to see one spine-chilling feature or catch the entire festival, there’s something for everyone!

Festival Director Radi Nikolov says, “This year’s lineup is an unmissable kaleidoscope of exciting independent cinema. We’ve curated a programme that’s full of fresh, bold voices in horror and genre filmmaking. It’s not to be missed.”

The full lineup is now revealed, offering a wide variety of films for every horror lover. From the action-packed thriller Strange Darling  to the cloud-soaked comedic Suicide for Beginners, this year’s programme pushes boundaries with everything from twisted murder sprees to mind-bending time travel. Here’s a sneak peek at the films on offer:

SCARLET BLUE | dir. Aurélia Mengin – 9:30am
Hypnosis, trauma, and a buried secret that changes everything. Alter’s therapy sessions unlock memories best left forgotten – what she finds will haunt her forever. A chilling psychological horror that lingers long after the credits roll.

SUICIDE FOR BEGINNERS | dir. Craig Thieman – 11:35am
Writing the perfect suicide note isn’t easy. Murdering a garage full of people is also pretty hard. But getting your victims to like you while you kill them, that’s the really tricky part. A darkly funny, blood-soaked horror-comedy you don’t want to miss.

THE DÆMON | dir. David Yohe, Matt Devino – 1:50pm
A family’s buried trauma collides with something far darker. A Lovecraftian slow burn dripping with dread – once it gets its claws in you, there’s no escape.

THE SHORT FILM SELECTION – 3:40pm

Umbra | The Girl In Kelp | The Girl With The Haunted Vagina | Transylvanie | Tasty Tongue

TIME TRAVEL IS DANGEROUS! | dir. Chris Reading – 6:00pm
A vintage shop. A time machine. A quick trip to the past to ‘borrow’ antiques… What could possibly go wrong? They just want to find a nice lamp… without getting sucked into the hellish time/space vortex that is the Unreason.STRANGE DARLING | dir. JT MOLLNER – 7:50pm
Nothing is what it seems when a twisted one-night
