Horror fans who also happen to be cost- conscious gamers, this one’s for you. Gun Interactive has announced that The Texas Chain Saw Massacre video game is now just $19.99. This is on all platforms and what’s more, this is not just a temporary sale. This is a permanent discount. For anyone who has been hesitant to get in on the action with Leatherface and the rest of his twisted family, now seems like the perfect time to pull the trigger.
The game was released last year and, much like Evil Dead: The Game or the now-defunct Friday the 13th: The Game, it’s an asymmetrical experience. What this means is that there are survivors who must work together to survive the killers in online matches. Dead by Daylight also functions very similarly. It’s become a very popular template for horror games, but this one executed it quite well. For those who may not be familiar, the official description of the game reads as follows:
“Take on the role of one of the notorious Slaughter family, or their victims, in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, a third-person asymmetrical horror experience based on the groundbreaking and iconic 1974 horror film.
As a victim you must use your wits and stealth to stay out of the Family’s reach and find the tools you need to lead to your eventual freedom. Slaughter Family players must seek out, track down, and stop their guests from escaping. Players of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre can finally find out if they have what it takes to survive.
Experience the mad and macabre for yourself in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.”
The game is available on Xbox and PlayStation consoles, as well as PC via steam. Unfortunately, this is one of those games that just couldn’t cut it on the Nintendo Switch. Gun has done a good job of keeping up with new content in the game. Horror legend Barbara Crampton joined the game earlier this year as part of a DLC package.
The hope is that this discounted price point will bring a new group of players to the game to help keep it strong for years to come. These games do rely on a healthy player base to keep them alive. For now though, it doesn’t seem like that’s a problem and the discount will make it more accessible to a much larger group.
