The inaugural Fantastic Games is happening at this year’s Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas. Presented by Day of the Devs, this will bring video games to the beloved genre festival in a big, big way. Now, they have announced the full lineup of games that will be available during the showcase for attendees to check out. It includes more than a dozen titles, most of which are unreleased, meaning those on hand will be some of the first people to get a taste of what they have to offer. So, what’s on deck? Here’s the list…
- Channel: Death by Night City, Big Sir Games
- darkwebSTREAMER by We Have Always Lived in the Forest
- Fear the Spotlight by Cozy Game Pals and Blumhouse Games
- Five Nights at Freddy’s: Secret of the Mimic by Steel Wool
- Grunn by Sokpop Collective
- Hollowbody by Headware Games
- Holstin by Sonka
- Horses by Santa Ragione
- Karma: The Dark World by Pollard Studio, Wired Productions and Gamera Games
- Pinball M (DLC) by Zen Studios
- Post Trauma by Red Soul Games and Raw Fury
- Skate Story by Sam Eng and Devolver Digital
- Tom the Postgirl by Oopsie Daisies
The list is eclectic and feels right in line with what we’ve come to expect from the movie selection at the festival. To that end, this year’s Fantastic Fest lineup is as varied as ever, from Terrifier 3 to a tenth anniversary celebration of The Guest. The game lineup includes Fear the Spotlight, which is notable as it’s going to be one of the first titles from Blumhouse Games. The company has been a leader in horror movies and TV for years now. What’s it going to look like as they break into the gaming space? We’ll have an idea soon enough.
Fantastic Games was first announced last month, with the showcase taking place during the first weekend of the festival beginning September 20. It’s being put on by Day of the Devs which is a non-profit organization that aims to celebrate the creativity, diversity and magic of video games.
Aside from the games at the showcase itself, it was also revealed that there will be a theater presentation from Illfonic’s Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game that all Fantastic Fest attendees are welcome to attend. As for what that will entail, specifically, remains to be seen but getting video games on the big screen is a rare treat, so that’s probably worth putting on one’s radar.
