This is ready for release early next year in theaters starting at the end of January 2025. In the heart-pounding military thriller Valiant One, a routine mission spirals into a fight for survival when a US Army helicopter crashes deep within North Korean territory. With strained tensions between…
Courtesy of Good Morning America on ABC Nosferatu is undoubtedly my most-anticipated horror movie of the year. While The Lighthouse left me floating aimlessly in a dark sea, I’ve been supremely impressed with Robert Eggers’ filmography thus far (yes, including The Northman). More importantly, I simply love a good vampire story. This year’s long-delayed Salem’s Lot didn’t impress me much, and post-2010s Twilight fever, the vampire horror subgenre, has been waning. There are a few standout examples here and there, including two Netflix originals, Blood Red Sky (intense) and Vampires vs. The Bronx (cute), though fanged bloodsuckers aren’t nearly as…
Peacock’s coming-of-age thriller series “Hysteria!” plunged its small Michigan town into full-blown Satanic Panic. Thanks to its teen protagonists and an atypically sympathetic police chief, order is mostly restored in Happy Hollow by season’s end. Chief Dandridge (Bruce Campbell) had a particularly stressful arc in showrunners Matthew Scott Kane (Stitchers) and David Goodman’s (The Orville) inaugural season; the observant yet patient small-town lawman nearly succumbed to the hysteria himself and rallied to survive a near-death confrontation with The Reverend (Garret Dillahunt). The finale wraps up the season’s overarching questions, yet leaves lingering signs that The Reverend and Tracy Whitehead’s (Anna Camp)…
Last Updated on August 15, 2024 by Angel Melanson Hot off the release of MaXXXine, Ti West’s X trilogy is moving from the screen to the page with three official novelizations from A24 and writer Tim Waggoner. The first in the trilogy, X, will be published later this fall on September 24. Pearl‘s novelization will follow on November 19, and MaXXXine is currently set for release in early 2025. According to A24: “Author Tim Waggoner translates West’s vision into pulpy print format with grisly new details drawn from the original screenplay.” Waggoner, a three-time Bram Stoker Award-winning horror and genre author, has plenty of experience with adapting…

Last Updated on March 16, 2024 by Angel Melanson Horror has been making its way into avenues where we may not obviously expect to find it. Infusing with pop culture and pop music. This is nothing new, but there seems to be a recent uptick (see The Weeknd), this intersection is delivering catchy tunes with some seriously wonderful juxtaposing imagery, paying homage to some of our favorites. Images from Tinashe‘s “Naturally” are circulating on social media and we had to pick our collective jaws up off the floor. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre vibes are aplenty, and we aren’t talking…
