In retrospect, you do have to feel a bit sorry for the Sega Saturn, despite Sega shooting themselves in the foot during its lifespan. While the Saturn’s 1994 launch in Japan was deemed a success, the North American launch the following year was hampered by inexplicable decisions that ultimately culminated in the Saturn’s early demise in the region. It’s a shame, as there were some quality titles that could go up against what was going on for the PlayStation and Nintendo 64 at the time, even if some of them were Japan exclusive. That also included a number of horror…

The Simpsons’ Ray Bradbury-inspired horror and sci-fi anthology episode strikes gold with clever parodies, concise writing, and hilarious gags. The Simpsons’ “Treehouse of Horror” specials were certainly the animated series’ first foray into anthology storytelling, but hardly the only time that they’ve dipped their toe into this water. 36 seasons in, The Simpsons has done “Simpsons Bible Stories,” “Simpsons Tall Tales,” “Simpson Christmas Stories,” and even “Thanksgiving of Horror.” There are also considerably headier ideas, like anthology-based deconstructions of western art, divine intervention and God, and even an episode where an Anonymous-esque hacker hijacks the series and releases “show-destroying” clips…

Dead by Daylight has been around for eight years and counting. Rather than wind things down, the scope of the franchise is expanding in 2024. The latest addition to the beloved horror universe is a new standalone, single-player game called The Casting of Frank Stone. Whereas Behaviour Interactive’s original game is a “kill or be killed” online multiplayer situation, this new game is very much a story-driven experience. In the early going, it plays out like an interactive horror movie, making it a very welcome addition to the DbD universe.  The bulk of the game takes place in the summer…
