Day Of The Cicada is not for the faint of heart. David W. Bailey has once again reinvented the Horror genre with this larger-than-life, campy, spine-tingling tale which elicited audible gasps from the invite-only audience, filled with celebrities, special guests, and the cast and crew of the film itself.
Wrongly imprisoned for the murders of his parents as a young child, Jacob (Bailey) has spent the last 34 years in jail claiming to be innocent. Not only that, but he also believes that his parents were killed by a bug that only emerges briefly every seventeen years. There is no longer time to wait as the cicadas are set to emerge. After breaking out of jail, Jacob is doggedly pursued by Emily, a recruit recently assigned to his case. But as Emily gets closer to finding Jacob, she also draws dangerously close to a shocking truth. The Cicadas are real, and they are back with a vengeance.
Day Of The Cicada stars Bailey, who also wrote, directed, and edited the film, alongside award winning horror legend Eileen Dietz, who starred in The Exorcist, and is one of Hollywood’s most famous living horror legends.
The film also stars Lords of Acid’s DieTrich Thrall, award-winning actors Ron Russell and Mike Ferguson, and Kelly Lynn Reiter, who stole the show as Emily Thornton, a law enforcement psychiatrist, desperately trying to find out why Jacob killed his parents 34 years previous.
Special guests included award-winning filmmaker Joseph Kelly, supermodel Tyler Sebago, film producer and publicist to the stars Jimmy Star, Multi-Platinum Award winning songwriter/producer Zachary Jaydon, award-winning filmmaker Cash Cassidy, Survivor alumni Daniel Rengering, Smile star Kevin Keppe, and a slew of Hollywood media and streaming executives, all looking to add Day Of The Cicada to their streaming lineup.
The film received a standing ovation and thunderous applause throughout. “It was crazy, campy, and fun,” said Sebago, who went on to say, “I could definitely see this film developing a cult-following. All the elements are there for that. It was really well done. I’d see it again.”
