Tis the season to get spooky, and Behaviour Interactive is here to help. Dead by Daylight has unveiled full plans for this year’s Haunted by Daylight event, which will run from October 17 to November 7. For players, this means Halloween is more than just a day – it’s an entire season. This year’s event will include the arrival of a new Tome, as well as plenty of new cosmetics.
This is the third year of Haunted by Daylight, following up last year’s event, which introduced Void Zones to the game. This year, The Void is back for this latest iteration of the event and set to play a bigger role than ever. There are more available portals into the Void Realm this time. The catch? Once opened they can’t be closed. Void Energy must again be collected in order to open these portals, but when inside, it can also be spent to create brand-new role-specific Void Items to help turn the tides of a Trial. Ratcheting up the event’s intensity, Killer Powers are now available to use within the Void Realm itself for the first time.
The above trailer offers our first glimpse at Tome 21: Dominus, which will continue with the Castlevania crossover that first invaded DbD earlier this year. It will be delivering more stories, outfits and rewards from the beloved franchise. This latest expansion has a specific focus on some popular Nintendo DS titles, allowing fans to dive deeper into Trevor Belmont and Dracula’s histories. In a first for the popular kill-or-be-killed game, every single outfit, Charm, Banner and Badge available to earn in Dominus will either be Castlevania themed or inspired by gothic horror. This includes the Legendary Soma Cruz Outfit for Trevor and the Visceral Legendary True Form Outfit for Dracula, complete with its own Mori.
Beginning Oct. 17 and lasting for the duration of this year’s Haunted by Daylight, players can pick up Outfits for Kate Denson, Adam Francis and Zarina Kassir, along with the Collection’s first Killer Outfit for The Plague. The Tricks and Treats Collection also introduces a group costume for Sable Ward and Mikaela Reid, both available in store. Sable steps into the role of a spellcasting witch, while Mikaela plays the part of her feline familiar. The Collection also includes Outfits for Yun-Jin and The Trickster, earnable via the Event, that sees them attending a Halloween concert. Both sets of Outfits are time limited.
Also returning is the fan-favorite Hallowed Blight Collection, with new looks available Oct. 7. The Collection include Outfits for The Pig, The Good Guy, The Deathslinger and more. Last, but certainly not least the Alien Collection serves up two all-new outfits with the “Juggernaut Xenomorph”, as well as the iconic “Pressure Suit” for Ellen Ripley. Both new outfits will be available on Nov. 7.
But that’s not all! Behaviour also announced that the long-requested 2v8 mode is returning to Dead by Daylight with updated gameplay. 2v8 was finally introduced to the game earlier this year for the first time. This new iteration arrives November 12 and runs through November 26. The idea, per Behaviour, is that with every new version of 2v8, planned updates are combined with community feedback to offer players an ever-evolving experience with deeper content and fine-tuned gameplay. Dead by Daylight Product Director Justin Brown had this to say about it:
“The team was incredibly excited to see the community’s reaction to the original release of 2v8. Part of the reason we’re putting out this second iteration on this timeline is that we just really want to get this back in players’ hands. We don’t want people to have wait 6 months to play again, and on our end, we don’t want to wait another 6 months for more feedback. We’re hoping to keep this same approach moving forward.”
