One of the most iconic horror films of all time is turning a whopping forty years old soon. That’s right: A Nightmare on Elm Street, the franchise that introduced us to the blade-handed Freddy Krueger, is celebrating its fortieth anniversary, and to celebrate, Dark Ink is releasing a new edition of Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy—The Making of Wes Craven’s A Nightmare on Elm Street, the definitive book on the production of the now-legendary first film in the series written by Thommy Hutson.
The new edition of the book features a new cover, as well as an afterword from franchise star Robert Englund, and includes rare and never before seen material on the making of A Nightmare on Elm Street, as well as hundreds of photos and over fifty interviews with cast and crew members.
“I’m absolutely thrilled to see Never Sleep Again back in print, offering fans of Elm Street and behind-the-scenes moviemaking a chance to revisit or discover for the first time the incredible story behind one of horror cinema’s most enduring films,” said author Hutson. “A Nightmare on Elm Street is more than a movie; it’s a cultural phenomenon. I’m grateful and proud to have been able to help tell the story of how Wes Craven‘s iconic film not only made it to the screen but helped shape New Line Cinema and influence moviegoers and filmmakers alike.”
“We are honored that Thommy trusted us to get his fantastic book back into print for horror fans around the world. It truly is extensively crafted and a fantastic look at a seminal film that film buffs will love,” said Michael Aloisi, founder of Dark Ink. The company has also published the popular In Search of Darkness books, as well as biographies on horror legends Kane Hodder, Gunnar Hansen, and Tom Savini, making it a perfect fit for Never Sleep Again.
The new hardcover edition of Never Sleep Again will be available worldwide on November 9, in both physical and e-book formats, and can be pre-ordered here. Check out the brand new cover below:
