“I’m stuck in a haunted house with my F-ing parents!” Max has revealed the official trailer for a funny new horror comedy movie called The Parenting, streaming on Max this March. Not a series for streaming, this is a one-off movie, directed by Craig Johnson of The Skeleton Twins, Wilson, and Alex Strangelove. Meeting the parents… it’s a necessary evil. A young gay couple, Rohan and Josh, host a weekend getaway with their respective parents in a country house rental. Things take a turn when the couples discover the presence of a 400-year-old evil poltergeist. Hilarity ensues as the families all try to have a nice time anyway. The terrific ensemble cast features Nik Dodani as Rohan and Brandon Flynn as Josh, with Brian Cox, Edie Falco, Lisa Kudrow, Dean Norris, Parker Posey, Vivian Bang, and others. This looks like a properly good time! Especially with this cast. Brian Cox looks like he’s having an absolute blast, along with Lisa Kudrow slaying every scene she’s in. Yeah bring it on – get the whole family together for The Parenting movie night.
Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Craig Johnson’s horror comedy The Parenting, from YouTube:
A hilariously terrifying new comedy, The Parenting follows young couple Rohan and Josh as they plan a perfect weekend getaway in the country to introduce their parents. As tensions begin to flare between the more traditional Sharon & Frank and the laid-back Liddy & Cliff, the families soon realize that their rental – managed by eccentric local Brenda – is haunted by the presence of a 400-year-old poltergeist. When one parent becomes thoroughly possessed, it’s up to the young couple and their meddlesome BFF Sara to unite the families and stop the evil entity once and for all. The Parenting is a horror comedy movie directed by American writer / filmmaker Craig Johnson, director of the films True Adolescents, The Skeleton Twins, Wilson, Mating, Alex Strangelove, and the series “Love Life”, “Special”, and “School Spirits” previously. The screenplay is written by Kent Sublette. Produced by Chris Bender and Jake Weiner. Warner Bros will debut Johnson’s The Parenting streaming on Max starting March 13th, 2025 coming soon.
